The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

NP/PA

M-F Four 10-hour rotating shifts

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will practice within the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Laboratory, providing comprehensive care to both inpatient and outpatient cardiology patients undergoing invasive and interventional cardiac procedures. This is a full-time position with no current holiday, overnight, or weekend requirements.

The APP will be responsible for the peri-procedural management of patients undergoing a wide range of cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures, including but not limited to coronary angiography/angioplasty, right heart catheterizations, endomyocardial biopsies, complex structural heart interventions, electrophysiology ablations, pacemaker and AICD implantation, cardioversions, and peripheral angiograms.

Primary responsibilities include obtaining comprehensive histories and physical examinations, initiating and managing appropriate orders, coordinating admissions and discharges, discharge planning, placing pre-procedure orders, conducting post-procedure follow-up calls, monitoring radiation exposure follow-up, and facilitating communication among multidisciplinary providers throughout the continuum of care.

The APP will also be expected to recognize and assist in the management of peri-procedural complications, including but not limited to hematomas, retroperitoneal bleeding, stroke, stent thrombosis, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, vasovagal episodes, contrast reactions, and respiratory distress. The APP must remain accessible to patients and healthcare team members to ensure prompt evaluation and management of complications.

In addition, the APP will provide both verbal and written patient education to patients and their support systems. Educational responsibilities will also include formal and informal teaching for cardiac catheterization laboratory staff, affiliated inpatient units, cardiology fellows, students, and referring physician offices.

The APP will actively participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives, departmental committees, student preceptorship, and occasional in-service presentations. Additional responsibilities may evolve over time; therefore, candidates must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the cardiovascular service line.

Qualified candidates must possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent procedural and critical-thinking skills, effective teaching abilities, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate independent problem-solving skills and thrive in a fast-paced, complex, team-oriented clinical environment.

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
