The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant is responsible for the psychiatric and related medical services of the assigned participants within our Queen Creek Outpatient Clinic. The position will actively engage in the provision of culturally responsive, integrative services as well as support and/or participate in initiatives designed to foster and promote integrated service delivery.

Qualifications Required

Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements

  • Licensed by the State of Arizona with no pending actions by board of nursing in Arizona or any other state; eligible for Board certification; and valid DEA certification.
  • Two (2) years or more experience post licensure in the delivery of mental health services with children/adolescents/adults.
  • Must maintain current BLS or equivalent certifications.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a level one fingerprint clearance card and successful completion of a background check.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Knowledge, Ability, and Skills

  • Thorough and working knowledge of psychiatric and co-occurring disorders, DSM-5 and ICD-10 codes and descriptions, psychotropic medications and crisis intervention is imperative.
  • Knowledge of community based behavioral health services preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain excellent member and family relationships and provide excellent customer service.
  • Requires effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and must understand how to tactfully communicate difficult or sensitive information.
  • Must be able to follow direction, use sound judgment, solve problems, manage time, identify priorities, and stay organized.
  • Must be competent in the use of electronic medical records software, as well as in the use of a computer, printer, copier, and telephone.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to effectively use the internet and various web browsers.
  • Possess the physical, mental, and cognitive ability to perform specific clinical and/or tasks required by the position without posing a direct threat to the safety and security of patients.

Physical

  • Long periods of sitting, ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Series of Hepatitis B shots or declination of same at hire
  • Proof of negative TB test or declination of same at hire
  • Encounter occasionally hazards such as, but not limited to, bodily fluids and potentially infectious materials.
