Location: ECPC Pain Specialists Wake Offices Between: Holly Springs & Apex (Wake County, NC)Status: 3–5 days per week, Part-Time or Full-Time, ExemptCompensation: We are open to candidates seeking 3, 4, or 5 days per week. Compensation will be adjusted based on the number of days worked. For full-time (5 days/week), the salary range is $120,000–$135,000, commensurate on experience.Department: Clinical ProvidersReports To: Dr. Brian Keogh, MD & Dr. Jose Avila, MD, PhD

This role primarily supports the Holly Springs and Apex clinics, with flexibility to cover Knightdale and Wakefield as needed (very rarely).

Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) is an essential member of our pain management team. In collaboration with our on-site physicians, Dr. Keogh and Dr. Avila, the PA provides comprehensive, patient-centered care including:

  • New patient evaluations
  • Routine follow-up care
  • Medication management
  • In-office procedures (e.g., trigger point, knee, and shoulder injections)
  • Recommendations for interventional procedures and referrals to specialty services

You’ll work within a multimodal approach to pain care that may involve coordination with orthopedic surgery, neurology, psychiatry, chiropractic care, radiology, and physical therapy.

Our board-certified physicians provide ongoing training and mentorship, ensuring you stay current with the latest advances in treating acute and chronic pain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough new patient and follow up assessments
  • Prescribe and adjust medications based on patient needs and regulations
  • Recommend interventional pain management therapies as indicated
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and team members
  • Maintain accurate, detailed and timely clinical documentation
  • Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled to maintain continuity of care
  • Respond to patient calls and team communications by the end of each workday
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful team culture grounded in empathy and compassion
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current or eligible Physician Assistant license in North Carolina
  • DEA License: Active or in progress
  • Experience: One year of experience in pain management preferred; new graduates with strong interest in pain care are encouraged to apply
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and critical thinking skills
  • Flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Outpatient medical office setting
  • Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and clinical staff
  • Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds)
  • Must possess manual dexterity and normal range of vision and hearing
  • Involves fast-paced, variable workflows that may be stressful at times
