Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with specialized experience in pediatric feeding disorders for a top-ranked, Magnet-recognized children’s hospital in Southern California.

Details

  • Outpatient pediatric OT setting specializing in feeding and developmental therapy
  • 4×10 schedule, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (Wednesday off), with patient care hours from 0800–1800
  • Common diagnoses include Pediatric Feeding Disorder, Oral Aversion, Dysphagia, ARFID, Failure to Thrive, Autism, Developmental Delay, Fine Motor Delay, Sensory Processing Difficulties, and varied genetic and developmental conditions
  • Patient population ranges from 8 months and older, with required experience treating patients 18 months and older
  • No on-call requirements; shift cancellations may occur based on patient volume
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • Free parking available for travelers

Requirements

  • Active OT license required; CA license required if applicable — candidates licensed in another state may use the 60-day rule to practice in CA while obtaining their CA license (allow 6–8 weeks to obtain)
  • NBCOT certification required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Minimum 1.5 years of OT experience required
  • Experience in the assessment and treatment of pediatric patients with feeding and eating difficulties required
  • Experience in pediatric general developmental occupational therapy required
  • Ability to independently evaluate and treat a full caseload of patients with pediatric feeding disorder
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited program required, OR Bachelor’s degree from an AOTA-accredited program if graduated prior to 2004
  • Experience with swallowing disorders preferred
  • Children’s hospital experience preferred but not required
  • A brief statement of the candidate’s experience in pediatric feeding is required for consideration

  • Orientation and training will take place at the Plaza location for the first 1–2 weeks
  • 20-week assignment
  • Maximum of 6 days of requested time off for the duration of the assignment; all time off requests must be submitted upfront
