Minimum Qualifications

Who We Are: Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. Our Day Support Program serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to assist them with achieving independence and being a part of their communities. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated MHSS Services Supervisor to supervise the Day Support team! Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field (master’s degree preferred); three years of increasingly responsible job-related experience to include two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. At least three years of supervisory experience in an intellectual/developmental disabilities day support or related program preferred. Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of community behavioral, prevention and/or DD programming. Knowledge of principles and techniques of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons with behavioral health disorders. Knowledge of relevant mental health laws. Ability to plan and organize a behavioral health project and/or components of a program; to interpret and apply county, state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines related to the assigned program; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers; and to supervise staff; proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred; working knowledge of intellectual disability programming; knowledge of the principles and techniques of treatment of persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred; knowledge of assessment and application of individualized service plans (ISP) development and outcome writing preferred; ability to plan and organize staff training preferred. Additional Requirements: Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises, trains and evaluates the work of assigned staff;
  • Assists with the planning, implementation, and on-going evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of services; ensures continuous quality improvement efforts;
  • Assists with preparing, monitoring, and overseeing the program’s budget;
  • Stays abreast of applicable regulations and assists with new and innovative services and improvements;
  • Develops and implements objectives, policies and procedures for the program;
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and department policies and procedures; and
  • Performs other work as required.

Shift

Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
