Full Job Description
A Physician Assistant in a Plastic Surgery practice provides comprehensive clinical and surgical support across the perioperative continuum. This role combines hands-on procedural work, outpatient care, surgical assistance, and patient education in both cosmetic and reconstructive settings. Ideal candidates have experience in plastic surgery.
Key Responsibilities
Surgical Assistance
- First assist in the operating room for aesthetic and reconstructive procedures
- Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain sterile technique
- Handle suturing, wound closure, and tissue management as delegated
- Assist in preoperative planning and intraoperative decision support
Preoperative Care
- Conduct patient evaluations, medical histories, and physical exams
- Review labs, imaging, and surgical clearance requirements
- Educate patients on procedures, risks, benefits, and recovery expectations
- Develop and review individualized surgical care plans with the surgeon
Postoperative Care
- Manage post-op follow-ups, wound checks, and dressing changes
- Provide recovery guidance, including activity restrictions
- Coordinate long-term outcomes as needed
Clinical & Outpatient Duties
- Evaluate and manage cosmetic and reconstructive patient visits
- Perform minor procedures such as suture removal, drain removal, and wound care
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
Aesthetic Procedures & Injectables
- Perform non-surgical cosmetic treatments under physician protocols
- Administer injections, including Botox and other neuromodulators
- Provide dermal filler injections and skin rejuvenation treatments
- Assess facial anatomy and develop individualized aesthetic treatment plans
Prescriptions & Medical Management
- Prescribe medications as permitted by state and practice protocols
- Manage perioperative medications, including antibiotics, pain control, and wound care regimens
- Adjust treatment plans based on patient response and recovery progress
On-Call Responsibilities
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule for post-surgical patient concerns
- Provide after-hours guidance for urgent postoperative issues
- Coordinate emergency evaluations or hospital transfers when needed
- Ensure continuity of care across surgical recovery periods
Additional Responsibilities
- Patient education on cosmetic procedures and expectations
- Collaboration with nursing staff, surgical coordinators, and administrative teams
- Support quality improvement initiatives and safety protocols
- Maintain compliance with medical regulations and surgical standards
- Assist in preoperative and postoperative photography, documentation, and case preparation
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program
- Active Texas PA license and NCCPA certification
- Valid ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Valid DEA license
- Surgical or aesthetic experience required
- Strong procedural skills and attention to detail
- Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

- Bilingual: English and Spanish
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
