Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Physician Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history intake to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Assist in medical procedures such as suturing, injection administration, and basic life support during emergencies.
- Manage acute pain cases, triage patients effectively in emergency or urgent care settings, and coordinate appropriate follow-up care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and data collection.
- Contribute to clinical research efforts by collecting data, managing study documentation, and supporting clinical trials related to infectious disease care or pain management.
- Support hospital-based services including ICU (Intensive Care Unit), neonatal ventilator management, ventilator care, and Level I/II trauma center protocols.
- Engage in telehealth consultations to extend patient access to quality care while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control standards.
Qualifications
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification from the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or urgent care environments; Level I/II trauma center experience is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding required.
- Demonstrated skills in physical examinations, diagnostic evaluation, medication administration, and aseptic technique.
- Critical care experience including ICU or neonatal ventilator management; experience with ventilator settings and airway management preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Ability to perform procedures such as phlebotomy, catheterization (including cardiac catheterization), spinal tap, gastric lavage, and radiation therapy support as needed.
- Experience with outpatient clinics or post-acute care settings; familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine or geriatrics is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education—including health coaching—and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
