Job Description

Overview

A high-volume neurology and stroke program in Arlington, TX is seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support its inpatient neuro hospitalist service.

This role operates within a hybrid neurology model, requiring providers who are efficient, autonomous, and comfortable managing high patient volumes across acute and critical care settings.

Both Acute Care NPs and experienced PAs with strong inpatient backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Manage inpatient neurology and stroke patients across acute care, step-down, and ICU settings
• Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and develop treatment plans
• Participate in acute stroke response and rapid evaluation workflows
• Collaborate with neurologists, hospitalists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Interpret diagnostic studies including imaging and lab results
• Manage high-acuity conditions such as stroke, seizures, encephalopathy, and neurotrauma
• Support patient throughput, discharge planning, and transitions of care
• Document efficiently within the EMR
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
• Active Texas NP or PA license (or in process with clear timeline)
• Board Certification: AGACNP/ACNP (NP) OR PA-C (PA)
• Minimum 2+ years recent inpatient / hospital-based APP experience
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Preferred:

• Neurology, stroke, neurocritical care, or hospitalist experience
• ICU or step-down experience
• Experience with stroke protocols and acute neurological conditions

Note:
Candidates with only outpatient, urgent care, or primary care experience will not be considered.
