Location: Medical City Dallas and Plano TX

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at Urology Clinics of North Texas (UCNT), you will be an integral part of a dynamic organization experiencing growth. With 25 North Texas locations and 60 providers, we are looking to expand our APP services throughout the North Texas region.

At UCNT, The Advanced Practice Provider will work independently and in collaboration with Urologic surgeons at multiple Dallas-Fort Worth area office locations and affiliated hospitals.

The APP will work independently and in collaboration with surgeons at their division location and nearby affiliated hospitals. The APP will practice in a fast-paced clinical setting as well as sharing hospital responsibilities with the surgeons of their practice. APPs will work to the full extent of practice by working as a team with physicians to perform hospital consults, rounding, and taking call. Surgical assisting opportunities are also available as part of the duties depending on divisional location.

Experience and Education

  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing, documentation of completion of accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. OR
  • Graduate of a master’s degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • One-year relevant APP clinical/surgical experience preferred.
  • DaVinci robotic training preferred.

Licensure and Certification

  • Licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross preferred.

Responsibilities – Clinic

  • Perform history and physical exams on new and established patients Consult with supervising physicians as needed.
  • Provide follow up and health maintenance care to patients in accordance with established standards of care, or specific instructions from the supervising physician.
  • Initiate appropriate treatment and testing required for evaluation of illness.
  • Evaluate post-operative patients and perform routine follow-up visits.
  • Is available to see patients requiring same-day office visits.
  • Provide counseling and education to patients regarding health-related issues.
  • Document clinical care of the patient according to established guidelines.
  • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated based on experience and as directed by the supervising physician.
  • Communicate with patients and family members within state law confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines concerning health related questions.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement process and other initiatives.

Inpatient Hospital Duties & Responsibilities

  • In-patient hospital rounds and sees consults.
  • Communication with surgeons and on-call physicians
  • Documentation of admission and progress notes
  • Surgical Assist experience is a plus; however, it is not a requirement. We will train the APP in this area.
  • Helping to ensure necessary equipment/supplies are present for procedure based on individual patient complexities and assists in patient positioning.
  • Acts as a facilitator between surgical teams and physicians to optimize efficiency and communication.
  • Performs first assist duties in open, robotic, and laparoscopic surgical procedures under direction of the surgeon, closes incisions and applies applicable dressings.
