MyCHN is a nonprofit organization providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy services to communities in the Greater Houston and Gulf Coast area. We were founded in 2008 with one provider, three exam rooms and a big dream. Today, we have over 100 providers and more than 15 locations. Job Summary:

The Oncologist Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides direct care and support to patients with cancer under the supervision of a licensed Oncologist. This position plays a crucial role in managing patient care across the cancer treatment continuum—from diagnosis through treatment, follow-up, and survivorship—while ensuring compassionate, evidence-based care that aligns with the mission of our organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive histories and physical exams of oncology patients
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including lab work, imaging, and pathology reports
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising Oncologist
  • Prescribe medications, chemotherapy agents, supportive therapies, and symptom management regimens
  • Perform or assist with procedures such as bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, paracentesis, or central line care if trained and credentialed
  • Monitor patients for treatment response and adverse events; adjust care plans as needed
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, expected outcomes, and survivorship
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including radiology, surgery, pharmacy, palliative care, and social services
  • Document all patient interactions in the IC-E electronic medical record promptly and accurately
  • Participate in tumor boards, clinical case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Stay current on advancements in oncology treatments and practices through CME and ongoing education

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams
  • Proficient in EMR System and medical documentation
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Compassionate and whole patient-centered care approach

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish are a plus

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Current PA license in the state of Texas
  • NCCPA Certification (PA-C) or ability to obtain
  • Active DEA license or ability to obtain
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years as a PA in a clinical setting required

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Prior oncology, blood transfusion therapies, or hematology experience strongly preferred
