We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Conduct thorough health assessments, including physical examinations and vital signs, for employees returning to work or seeking medical clearance.
- Manage acute injuries and illnesses on-site, providing first aid, wound care, suturing, and administering medications such as injections or IV infusions when appropriate.
- Perform specialized procedures like spirometry, audiometry, dermal fillers, botulinum toxin treatments, and esthetic laser treatments to support workplace wellness programs.
- Coordinate with occupational safety teams to develop injury prevention strategies and conduct ergonomic assessments.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide health coaching and education on topics including nutrition, chronic disease management, infectious disease control, and workers’ compensation law.
- Assist in case management for injured employees, facilitating return-to-work plans and discharge planning while collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance carriers.
Requirements
- Valid certification as an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with current licensure in the relevant state.
- Proven experience in acute care settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU or trauma centers; Level I or II trauma center experience preferred.
- Strong clinical skills including suturing, phlebotomy, catheterization, airway management, and sterile processing techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (including neonatal ventilator management), individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory experience and medical imaging techniques such as sonography or laboratory specimen processing.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to deliver high-quality patient care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques; familiarity with hospital protocols for acute pain management and spinal tap procedures is advantageous.
