Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic while adhering to strict health and safety standards. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques to ensure infection control.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and managing patient comfort throughout procedures.
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history accurately for each patient visit.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with team members and patients.
- Uphold infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate with the team on general dentistry cases as well as specialized areas like pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting practices.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for efficiency during procedures.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist in pediatric dentistry settings when required.
