Per Diem Surgical Physician Assistant – Plastic Surgery

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our plastic surgery practice on a per diem basis, approximately 3–4 days per week. The ideal candidate will have hands-on surgical experience and be comfortable assisting in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures in both the operating room and clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • First assist the plastic surgeon during surgical procedures including:
  • Breast reduction
  • Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
  • Liposuction
  • Other cosmetic and reconstructive procedures
  • Perform surgical preparation and intraoperative assistance including:
  • Suturing and wound closure
  • Retraction and tissue handling
  • Maintaining sterile technique
  • Assisting with hemostasis and operative flow
  • Conduct preoperative patient evaluations and education
  • Provide postoperative care including follow-up visits, dressing changes, drain management, and patient counseling
  • Document patient encounters and operative notes accurately and efficiently
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure high-quality patient care and safety
  • Support clinic flow and patient experience as needed

Qualifications

  • Current Physician Assistant certification (PA-C) and state licensure
  • Prior surgical experience required; plastic surgery experience preferred
  • Strong suturing and surgical assisting skills
  • Knowledge of perioperative and postoperative patient management
  • Excellent bedside manner and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • BLS and ACLS certification preferred
  • Must obtain credentialing at NYC hospital

Schedule

  • Per diem position
  • Approximately 3–4 days per week
  • Flexible scheduling based on surgical caseload and clinic needs

Pay: $75.00 – $100.00 per hour
