About Velazquez Pain
Position Summary
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform comprehensive evaluations of new and established pain management patients, including history, physical exam, review of imaging, and medication reconciliation.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using a multimodal approach (pharmacologic, interventional, behavioral, and rehabilitative).

Prescribe and monitor medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes, DEA regulations, CDC prescribing guidance, and clinic policies.

Review Nevada Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) data and coordinate care with primary care, behavioral health, and other specialists.

Document clearly and accurately in our electronic health record within expected timeframes.

Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, medication safety, and goals of care — in English and Spanish as needed.

Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and team meetings.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all state and federal regulations.
Required Qualifications
-
Current, unrestricted Nevada APRN license (with prescriptive authority) or Nevada Physician Assistant license.

Current DEA registration and Nevada Controlled Substance Registration (CSR), or ability to obtain prior to start date.

2–4 years of clinical experience as an NP or PA in an outpatient setting.

BLS certification (current).

Strong working knowledge of responsible opioid prescribing, MME calculation, and risk-mitigation strategies (PMP review, UDS, treatment agreements, naloxone co-prescribing).

Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Prior experience in pain management, physical medicine & rehabilitation, neurology, or orthopedics.

Experience performing or assisting with trigger point injections, joint injections, or other minor procedures (or willingness to train).

Experience with EHR platforms.

Familiarity with workers’ compensation, personal injury, and Medicare/Medicaid pain management documentation requirements.
