Imagine yourself in a dynamic atmosphere where you’ll work alongside world-renowned experts, learn new things every day, treat conditions that few medical professionals ever encounter, and have a vast range of career paths to choose from. Now imagine that in addition to all this, you have the chance to change lives every day. That’s what it means to be an Advanced Practice Provider at Mayo Clinic.
Responsibilities
The Mayo Clinic Children’s Center offers a comprehensive range of pediatric programs provided by highly integrated teams of specialized physicians, mid-level providers, and nurses. The hospital was Minnesota’s first designated Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and is one of the nation’s select few hospitals to offer a comprehensive pediatric transplant program. More than 60,000 children receive treatment at Mayo Clinic each year, including more than 8,000 surgical cases and 3,000 inpatient hospital admissions. Mayo Clinic and its Children’s Center is the medical center most recognized as a top choice for patients and families by U.S. News and World Report and many other ranking organizations. The Division of Neonatal Medicine is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to work both independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team to assess, diagnose, manage, and evaluate the health care needs of infants and neonates. Practitioners in this position will care for neonates affected by prematurity, respiratory distress, infectious diseases, congenital heart disease, and/or other anomalies.
Clinical responsibilities include day-to-day management of newborns and resuscitation management of high-risk newborns with rotations between the following sites:
- Level III/IV NICU at Saint Mary’s Hospital
- Level III Nursery and Delivery Room at Rochester Methodist Hospital
At Mayo Clinic in Rochester, over 800 admissions a year and approximately 2,300 annual births occur with newborns requiring intensive care management and evaluation. Established in 1977, the Division of Neonatal Medicine has seen steady growth in its clinical practice and in its contribution to research and education. As a NNP at Mayo Clinic, you’ll experience a life changing career that reaffirms the Mayo principles of integrated multispecialty care within a patient-focused, family-centered environment.
