OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience across various specialties, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, and outpatient settings. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment utilizing advanced EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks, with responsibilities spanning patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment planning. The Physician Assistant will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive patient care while supporting clinical research initiatives and ensuring adherence to HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and vital signs documentation.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging, laboratory data collection, and clinical tests such as spinal taps or dermal fillers.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions including pain management, infectious disease care, and post-acute or hospice & palliative medicine.
- Administer injections, IV infusions, medications, and perform procedures such as suturing, catheterization, airway management, and aseptic techniques.
- Utilize EMR systems like Epic and Cerner for accurate medical records management and CPT/ICD coding for billing purposes.
- Participate in clinical trials or research projects related to internal medicine, emergency medicine, or specialized fields like neonatology or geriatrics.
- Assist in discharge planning, patient education on health coaching, nutrition, addiction counseling, and follow-up care coordination.
- Support hospital-based functions including ICU care, Level I & II trauma center protocols, PICU procedures, ventilator management, dialysis support, and radiation therapy coordination.
- Engage in outpatient clinics for primary care or specialty services such as dermatology or occupational health.
- Maintain compliance with infection control standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards.
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant with valid certification to practice in the state.
- Proven experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in various clinical skills including physical examinations, patient assessment, medication administration (including injections), and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working in hospital settings such as ICU (including neonatal ventilator management), emergency rooms (ER), trauma centers (Level I & II), or outpatient clinics.
- Critical care experience preferred; background in infectious disease care, pain management, Geriatrics or Pediatrics is advantageous.
- Ability to perform procedures like suturing, phlebotomy, spinal taps; knowledge of physiology and anatomy is required.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Must pass background checks and drug screening prior to employment; ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment. Pay: $105,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
