This position has a pay rate of $95,000.00 annual wage.

The Physician Assistant promotes and maintains health by providing psychiatric and medical services working with a participating physician in accordance with established guidelines. He/she is to participate with leadership for the medical oversight of the medical needs of SUD, Foster Care, New Americans and Adoptions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts physical examinations
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; providing counselling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance
  • Provide patients with written prescription notes.
  • Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the policies and growth of physical health services
  • Maintain appropriate and necessary communication with staff regarding responses to orders implemented and changes in client condition
  • Will evaluate and when appropriate prescribe MAT medication, including to but not limited to Buprenorphine and Vivitrol, under the direction of a waivered physician as part of an interdisciplinary treatment approach to substance use

Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Pass the National Boards exam through the National Commission on Certifying Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and maintain current certification
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan License as a Physician Assistant that is in good standing
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan DEA License with ability to prescribe MAT and Controlled Substance License that is in good standing
  • Will acquire and maintain appropriate DEA waivered status to prescribe MAT
  • Will acquire and maintain appropriate training requirements applicable to MAT
  • Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary team is preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to apply commonsense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic forms
  • Knowledge of various substances of abuse, the disease of addiction and signs and symptoms of detoxification
  • Knowledge of process and procedures to complete medical evaluations for youth and adolescents
  • Ability to use an Electronic Medical Record system
  • Must be able to function in an independent team setting, be flexible in attitude, and desire to provide holistic care for clients
  • Ability to understand and follow oral & written directions
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with client, employee and organization information
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team in achieving common goals
  • Ability to work constructively with staff and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural context. Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English. Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to prepare letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
  • Ability to manage multiple functions of a complex organization. Strong organizational skills
