Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Fellowship
The Boston Specialists Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Fellowship Program in Gastroenterology and Allergy aims to bridge the gap in PA/NP training by providing specialized education. Fellows will receive comprehensive training in both gastroenterology, allergy, as well as the intersection of these two fields. This program equips PA/NP graduates with the knowledge and confidence to excel in independent clinical practice. The 12-month fellowship includes structured learning in general gastroenterology, general allergies, and eosinophilic and mast cell disorders. Fellows will receive clinical training, with opportunities to participate in independent research projects, hands-on procedure training, mentorship from experienced providers, and the chance to contribute to the training of future healthcare professionals.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake and physical, develops treatment plan, and provides patient education while collaborating with physicians to deliver exceptional care.
- Review difficult cases with the physician and less complex cases independently.
- Provide timely responses to patient questions via telephone or email.
- Refill prescriptions and review lab work in a timely manner.
Additional Responsibilities and Opportunities
- Participate in ongoing internal research projects with the opportunity for publication and presentation of abstracts and papers at conferences.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of pre-medical gap year students, PA students, and NP students by providing guidance, shadowing opportunities, and educational support.
- Contribute to the creation and review of patient education materials, ensuring content is accurate, clear, and accessible to diverse patient populations.
- Engage in continuing education activities, such as attending seminars, workshops, or conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
- Support the operational aspects of the practice by gaining proficiency in prior authorizations, billing procedures, and handling denials
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) or a master’s degree or higher in nursing from an accredited program.
- Successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) or a national certification examination and certification as a Nurse Practitioner (adult, acute care, or family medicine) with licensure to practice in the state of Massachusetts
- Required to complete the credentialing process prior to start date.

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
