Full Job Description
Upward Community is seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) with a specialization in psychiatry and experience working with children, teens, and young adults to join our Counseling Center on a part-time or full-time basis.
The role involves providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing support to clients in collaboration with our team of therapists and clinicians. This position is ideal for a professional who is passionate about supporting the mental health and well-being of children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing a range of mental health challenges.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications, ensuring individualized care that aligns with each client’s needs and treatment plan.
- Collaborate with therapists and other clinical staff to integrate medication management with therapeutic interventions and provide coordinated care.
- Provide education and guidance to clients and their families regarding medication use, potential side effects, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records, including treatment plans, medication management, and follow-up appointments.
- Participate in case consultations and team meetings to discuss client progress and treatment approaches.
- Ensure adherence to professional and ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Illinois license to practice as a Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) qualified to provide psychiatric services.
- Appropriate board certification and prescribing credentials.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a mental health or psychiatric setting.
- Expertise in psychiatric medication management.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate, client-centered approach with sensitivity to the unique needs of children and families.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practices is highly desirable.

Benefits and eligibility may vary based on scheduled hours and employment status.
Pay: $50,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
