Orthopedic Specialists of SW Florida’s state-of-the-art, 60,000 square-foot facility incorporates the latest in leading-edge technology in order to provide optimal care for patients who have bone, joint, muscle and spine problems. Our office includes five Centers of Excellence and a full Physical Therapy and Occupational/Hand Therapy division, which work in close coordination with our physicians to provide non-operative, preoperative, post-operative and preventive care.
Job Summary: Join our dynamic team to work collaboratively with an Orthopedic Surgeon and an experienced Physician Assistant in providing comprehensive orthopedic care. This role involves responsibilities in an outpatient clinic, operating room, and inpatient settings, with a primary focus on hip and knee arthroplasty. The position offers limited on-call duties, making it ideal for those seeking a balanced work schedule. While previous experience is advantageous, it is not a requirement. We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with your experience.
Essential Functions:
  • Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination
  • 1st assistant in surgery – Performs first assist duties, including ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are present. Keep your surgical skills up-to-date with CME
  • Post-op – Writes orders in the recovery room, talks with family, visits patients, performs post-op procedures and more
  • Discharge planning– Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explains discharge instructions, confirms follow-up appointments and more
  • Monitor, record and report systems or changes in patient’s condition
  • Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal
  • Order and/or conduct diagnostic and laboratory tests
  • Order or prescribe pharmacologic agents and non-pharmacologic therapies
  • Maintain accurate detailed reports and records regarding patient’s treatment, history and plan of care
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement or evaluate the patient’s care plan
  • Collaborate with fellow employees regarding treatment, payment and continuing care when necessary

  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment, demonstrates the ability to organize and prioritize work during heavy workload situations to expedite patient care
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
  • Work independently while understanding the need to communicate and coordinate work efforts with other employees and organizations
Minimum Requirements (education, experience, special skills and licenses or certifications required):
  • Florida licensed as Physician Assistant or APRN
  • Two to five years of professional clinical experience
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy
