About Ravive Plastic Surgery
We are a boutique plastic surgery practice located in South Tampa offering the full breadth of aesthetic surgery, injectables, and oncologic breast reconstruction. This is a single-surgeon practice that opened in September 2023. We are growing rapidly and looking for a talented, energetic team member to grow with us.
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician’s Assistant to join our team. This provider will play an important role in delivering high-quality patient care while supporting both our surgical and aesthetic services.
The ideal candidate will have experience injecting neuromodulators and dermal fillers, along with strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills. This individual will help enhance the patient experience by providing attentive care, guiding patients through their aesthetic and surgical journeys, and supporting our team in delivering exceptional results.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies required
- Current Florida PA licensure maintained
- Training in plastic surgery preferred
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of experience as a Physician’s Assistant
- Experience first assisting in surgery
- Experience diagnosing and treating patients
- Experience injecting neuromodulators and dermal fillers
- Laser treatment experience preferred
- Ability to make independent decisions about patient care
- Comfortable using email and Electronic Health Records
- Strong communicator, calm under pressure, patient-focused, and eager to grow
- Neat, professional appearance
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Office Responsibilities
Prepare patients for examination
- Escort patient to exam room
- Determine nature of visit and review medical history sheet/medications/allergies; ensure this is complete
- Obtain vital signs & weight on patient
- Provide patient with gown/robe and undergarments as needed
- Photograph patients
- Make sure patient signs consent before treatment
Patient teaching: Pre-op visits
- Review pre/post op instructions, bruising tip sheet and prescriptions with patient
- Review consent forms with patient
- Review patient’s current meds/supplements/smoking/alcohol or drug use and specifically remind patient what needs to be stopped before surgery
Clinical patient care
- Remove and apply dressings, clean wounds
- Remove surgical glue, suture & staples
- Assist patients with applying garments
- Apply topical anesthetic
- Apply cold packs/compresses after injections or surgery
Breast Implant Sizing
- Set up sizers chosen by Dr. Bhat and review how to use with patient
- Chart patient’s preferred sizers on implant order sheet
Clinical patient care
- First-assist Dr. Bhat in operating room
- Circulate in operating room
- Reassure/comfort patients
- Cleanse operative site, apply dressing/garments /compresses or ice packs after surgery
- Monitor patient vitals before/during or after surgery when needed
- Make rounds at the hospital on behalf of Dr. Bhat
- Adhere to chart documentation requirements as outlined by hospital guidelines
Patient communication and follow-up
- Return all patient calls/messages and triage as needed
- Document all calls in patient charts
- Call all patients undergoing surgical procedures the day after surgery to check on their progress and document in patient charts
- Call patients with pathology results
Aesthetic patient care
- Perform aesthetic injectable treatments including Botox and dermal fillers
- Prepare patients for injectable and laser procedures
- Apply topical anesthetic prior to treatments
- Perform laser treatments in accordance with practice protocols
- Apply cold packs/compresses following injectable treatments
- Provide post-treatment care instructions and follow-up support
- Build and grow your own non-surgical patient base (injectables and lasers)
ADMINISTRATIVE
Complete necessary patient paperwork for surgery
- Review patient chart in detail, including name/type of surgery, medical history, Meds, allergies, etc. read consult notes
- Prepare forms including: Consent forms, Operative Report template, Operative Record, Post Op instructions. Occasionally, a pathology form may be needed
- Prepare orders for pre-operative tests, CT scans, and MRIs
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with physician protocols
- Make sure the necessary prescriptions were sent to patient’s Pharmacy
- Follow up on all pre-op testing, medical clearance, mammo, EKG, etc. were received and signed off by Dr. Bhat or yourself
- Put photos with correct views in chart
- Get copy of consults and pre-op note and attach to chart
- Complete pre-op checklist on front of each surgical chart
- Maintain and update templates for all consents, orders, and patient instructions
Set up OR for Surgery, Trays for fillers/Botox
- Set up trays for injectables
- Set up appropriate instruments & equipment for surgery/lasers
- Sterilize instruments and maintain sets and equipment
- Instrument sets
- Dispose of contaminated and disposable items and sharps per OSHA rules
Other
- Participate in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
- Conduct educational seminars for patients, employers, and others
- Maintain patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Communicate daily with physician regarding patient care
- Assist physician with monitoring the schedule, adjusting as needed to ensure efficiency and appropriate patient flow
- Maintain detailed knowledge of PatientNow and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Attend annual CPR, OSHA, and CLIA training programs
- Attend all regular meetings
- Perform all other tasks and projects assigned by Dr. Bhat
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Typical Physical Demands
Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will work under stressful conditions and work irregular hours. Employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis.
Typical Working Conditions
Employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Compensation:
- Starting base pay of $55-60/hour with bonus opportunity
