TEACHING FACULTY (Full-Time/Part-Time)
MASTER IN PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDIES PROGRAM
Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is a national leader in integrating community-based medical education and clinical care. The College of Medicine is also an academic and clinical affiliate of Baptist Health and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for non-tenure teaching faculty (Full-Time/Part-Time) position, within the Master in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Program. The primary responsibilities include teaching, evaluating, and advising didactic and clinical physician assistant students. The selected candidate will teach clinical courses within the program’s curriculum, including courses within Clinical Medicine I – III; The Role of the PA in Clinical Practice; and Integration of Clinical Concepts I – II.
The selected candidate will also serve as a Capstone Mentor and will participate and provide educational and assessment support in Lab Medicine and Diagnostic Procedures, Skills and Procedures, History and Physical Examination I – IV and Scholarly Research Project. The faculty member will develop and deliver course lectures, learning objectives, and learning outcome assessments in accordance with the ARC-PA standards and aligned with the NCCPA Blueprint and will also assist in the program’s curriculum evaluation and development processes; all accreditation activities; and the admission, success, remediation, and retention of physician assistant students. This position may provide clinical care at FIU College of Medicine clinical sites or at a clinical site in the community.
Minimum qualifications include (1) an NCCPA certified or emeritus Physician Assistant, graduated from an ARC-PA accredited PA program, and holds a Master’s degree in a related field; or (2) a terminal degree in medical sciences (MD or DO).
Preferred qualifications include at least three (3) years of relevant clinical experience; prior experience in academia and/or other teaching; active and unrestricted Florida PA license or medical license (or be eligible to obtain a Florida Physician Assistant license or medical license in the state of Florida); strong communication skills; and a professional demeanor.
