Job Summary

Our small private pulmonary practice is currently seeking an inpatient focused Pulmonary Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). In this acute-care role, you will assess, diagnose, and manage patients with complex pulmonary and respiratory conditions. You will work closely with intensivists, hospitalists, and specialized care teams to deliver comprehensive inpatient care, manage advanced respiratory therapies, and drive improved patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough inpatient evaluations, including daily rounds, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories.
  • Care Management: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
  • Procedural Expertise: Perform or assist with specialized inpatient procedures, including thoracentesis, airway management, and ventilator management.
  • Therapeutics: Administer and monitor specialized pulmonary medications, IV therapies, and respiratory treatments.
  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, manage ICU/floor transitions, and facilitate safe hospital discharges.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient encounters and procedures using EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment adherence, and post-discharge care.

Qualifications

  • Licensure & Certification: Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (with a focus in acute care/pulmonology) or a licensed Physician Assistant with relevant clinical experience.
  • Clinical Experience: Proven experience in hospital-based settings, particularly ICU, critical care, or Level I/II trauma centers.
  • Respiratory Expertise: Strong clinical understanding of advanced respiratory therapies, including ventilator management and airway management techniques.
  • Procedural Skills: Competence in sterile technique, infection control, and acute-care procedures (e.g., sonography-guided procedures, thoracentesis, catheterization).
  • Diagnostic Literacy: Ability to interpret diagnostic evaluations, including medical imaging, pulmonary function tests, and laboratory results.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with inpatient CPT and ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to thrive in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary hospital environment alongside hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and palliative care teams.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
