Oral Surgery Physician Assistant (PA)
Position Summary: The Oral Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) works collaboratively with the oral surgeon to provide high-quality surgical and clinical care. This role includes patient evaluation, assisting in surgical procedures, and managing pre- and post-operative care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories and physical exams
- Assist in oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
- Administer local anesthesia and monitor patients during procedures (as permitted by state law)
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the surgeon
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education and care
- Prescribe medications within scope of practice
- Manage follow-up visits and monitor patient recovery
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current PA licensure in the state of practice
- Certification by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
- Experience in oral surgery, surgical specialties, or dentistry preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred
