Join Our Team as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner at YNHHS!

At Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS), we’re seeking dedicated healthcare professionals to join our team and make a difference in patient care. As a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing exceptional diagnostic and therapeutic care in collaboration with attending physicians across various practice settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Care
  • Assess, triage, and manage patient/family needs in inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
  • Perform physical examinations, order diagnostic tests, and manage treatment plans within scope of practice.
  • Provide assistance in operative cases and respond to emergency situations within YNHHS parameters.
  • Patient Education & Psychosocial Support
  • Educate patients/families on care instructions, treatment plans, and available resources.
  • Offer compassionate psychosocial support to patients and their families.
  • Information Management
  • Ensure accurate documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Management
  • Demonstrate moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, and commitment to patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Professional Development
  • Engage in projects to advance professional competency.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for new staff and participate in service-specific orientations.
  • Collaborate on research, quality assurance, and performance improvement projects.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.

Experience:

  • Preference for clinical working experience within the given specialty/service line, but none required.
  • Must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process.

Licensure:

  • For Physician Assistants: Active PA Certification by the NCCPA, Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, DEA License (when indicated), PALS Certification (when indicated for pediatric care), NRP Certification.
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, Board specialty certification (as appropriate), ACLS/BLS Certified, DEA License (when indicated), PALS Certification (when indicated for pediatric care), NRP Certification.

Additional Information:

  • Inpatient Orthopedics: Seeking candidates with 2+ years of experience, but new grads are welcome.
  • Opportunities to rotate through sub-specialties including trauma, spine, joint, and fracture consult service.
  • Multiple positions available with AM and PM rotating shifts.
