Full Job Description
Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to:
- Conduct patient assessments in person and via telehealth and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Perform physical examinations and order diagnostic tests as needed
- Prescribe medications and administer treatments under the supervision of a physician
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatment options, and preventive care
- Assist surgeon as necessary in vascular surgeries
- Completes rounding, hospital consults, and surgical consents as needed
- Supports phone triage and on call as assigned during office hours and rotating call weekends
- Perform in office vein procedures and wound care
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Document patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality
Position will require work in a clinic setting 5 days a week, Mon-Fri with some support work in local hospitals. Work in clinic will consist of clinic visits, documentation, vein procedures, triage, wound care, and post op. Work in hospitals will consist of rounding, consults, and assisting surgeries. This position will take first call from 9a-5p Mon-Fri and 7a-7p on rotating weekends (1:4) with supervising on call physician. No call coverage on holidays.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting. Vascular experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of discharge planning processes and coordination of post-hospital care.
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems: EPIC, MEDITECH, and eCW preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide health coaching to patients
- Ability to make critical decisions, analyze complex cases, and adapt treatment plans based on patient responses and changing conditions.
- Meticulous attention to detail in patient assessments, documentation, and treatment plans to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and the maintenance of relevant certifications.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team and communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and their families.
Requirements for Physician Assistants
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies
- Unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Colorado.
- Physician Assistant Certification (PA-C) issued by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit
- Eligible to provide services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
- Eligible to provide services with no sanctions or exclusion from either the Health and Human Services/Office of Inspectors General (HHS/OIG) or the General Services Administration’s (GSA) List of Parties Excluded from Federal Programs.
- Unrestricted medical staff membership, with appropriate practice privileges.
- Prescriptive authority as appropriate, per medical staff service privileging process.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Requirements for Nurse Practitioners
- Master’s degree in Nursing and graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Nurse Practitioner Certification issued by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Nurse Practitioner Certification issued by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) is required for hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by the State Board of Nursing in Colorado or compact privileges under the multi-state Nurse Licensure Compact agreement
- Unrestricted medical staff membership, with appropriate practice privileges
- Full prescriptive authority
- Unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit
- Eligible to provide services and maintain provider status with Medicare and Medicaid.
