Full Job Description

We are expanding! Hoag is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Acute Care General Surgery team in Newport Beach and Irvine, CA. The Hoag Acute Care general surgeons perform a wide variety of urgent and emergent open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures. The team is passionate about providing the best and most timely possible surgical care to our patients, and to assure our referring physicians that their patients are in the best of hands.

Essential Functions

  • Daily inpatient rounds and note preparation on the Acute Care service.
  • Rounds and coordination of care with the surgeon on duty.
  • Perform emergency and inpatient consultations in coordination with the surgeon.
  • Ensure patient preparedness for surgery.
  • First assist on surgical procedures
  • Write post-op and discharge orders, communicate with family, and perform bedside and post-op procedures as needed.
  • Clinical Care: Ensure that quality patient care is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis, and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the philosophy and goals of Hoag.
  • Reports all abnormalities to the supervising physician.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Details & Required Qualifications

  • Position is located in Newport Beach and Irvine, CA
  • Full-Time position, 8 hour shifts Monday- Friday with some weekend rounding
  • Graduation from a Physician Assistant’s training program and current license in good standing by the Board of Medical Examiners of the State of California.
  • Evidence of satisfactory performance and completion of proctoring requirements.
  • Previous experience as a surgical physician assistant with an acute care setting.
  • EMR Epic

License and Certifications

Required:

  • Current license in good standing to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of California. Current BLS and ACLS certification is required prior to clinical rotation.
  • Current and active DEA licensure.

Salary Information: $110k – $195k, The salary range listed is for a full-time position and does not include additional incentive compensation or benefits that you may be eligible for. The total compensation will be reviewed and adjusted based on fair market value, experience, training, or any additional hospital needs.
