Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Cardiothoracic Surgery (Locum Tenens)Fountain Valley, CA
An acute care hospital in Fountain Valley, California is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a locum tenens Cardiothoracic Surgery assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative cardiac surgery team in a respected hospital setting.
Position Details
- Location: Fountain Valley, CA.
- Assignment Start: May 11, 2026, or as soon as credentialed.
- Contract Length: 26 weeks, with potential for extension.
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week.
- Shift Options: 7:00 AM-5:30 PM or 9:00 AM-6:30 PM.
- Weekend coverage may be required.
- No call responsibilities.
Compensation
- $140-$145 per hour.
- Travel and lodging will require an all-inclusive rate.
- Local candidates are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients.
- Manage patients in the ICU setting.
- Conduct daily rounds and coordinate discharges.
- Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons and fellow advanced practice providers.
- Chest tube removal experience is preferred, though not required.
Practice Setting
- Acute care hospital with 260 beds.
- Average patient volume of approximately 10 patients per day.
- Collaborative team environment with dedicated APP and surgeon support.
- EMR: Epic.
Requirements
- Active California NP or PA license.
- Board Certification required.
- Active DEA registration.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- CALS preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of cardiothoracic or cardiac surgery experience.
- Clean background and malpractice history required.
