Physician Assistant – Gynecologic Oncology

Location: Advanced Women’s Care

Department: Gynecologic Oncology

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Gynecologic Oncology team. The PA will work closely with our oncologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients with gynecologic cancers. This role involves direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, inpatient rounding, surgical first assisting, oversight of chemotherapy infusions, and follow-up, as well as coordinating with other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and reviewing diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Perform minor procedures, such as biopsies, under the supervision of a physician.
  • Serve as a surgical first assist in gynecologic oncology surgeries, including preoperative preparation, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative care.
  • Conduct daily inpatient rounding to monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans, and provide comprehensive care.
  • Oversee the administration of chemotherapy infusions, ensuring proper protocols are followed and patient safety is maintained.
  • Educate patients and their families about the diagnosis, treatment options, and post-treatment care.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work collaboratively with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding treatment plans, test results, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment strategies.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient history, examination findings, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Ensure all documentation meets legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Education and Quality Improvement:
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers regarding gynecologic oncology conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education to stay current with advancements in gynecologic oncology.
  • Compliance:
  • Adhere to all medical protocols, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • State licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • Minimum of 3 experience in oncology or a related specialty; experience in gynecologic oncology preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Proficiency in surgical first assisting, inpatient rounding, and chemotherapy infusion oversight.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with potential on-call responsibilities.
  • May involve standing for extended periods, assisting in surgeries, and managing emergencies.
  • Exposure to clinical settings with potential exposure to infectious diseases and radiation.

Qualifications:

  • Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (Credentialing requirement)
  • Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers
  • Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
