Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team at the JBER Pain Management Clinic. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive medical care under the supervision of our physicians, specializing in pain management. You will assist in diagnosing, treating, and managing chronic pain conditions, implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments, including medical history reviews and physical examinations, to diagnose pain conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients suffering from chronic pain, incorporating pharmacological, non-pharmacological, and interventional modalities.
  • Perform procedures such as joint injections, trigger point injections, and nerve blocks under the guidance of supervising physicians.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize pain relief and functional outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families about pain management strategies, medication use, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure interdisciplinary communication.
  • Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner in electronic medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and continuing education to maintain clinical competency and enhance patient care.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • State licensure as a Physician Assistant, with eligibility for DEA registration.
  • Experience working in a pain management setting is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating differential diagnoses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and advocating for the needs of individuals living with chronic pain.
