Full Job Description
Med-X Consulting is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to manage the acute and chronic medical conditions of patients in a behavioral health facility in Jacksonville, NC. The ideal candidate will possess expert communication, collaboration, and time management skills. This role requires a self-motivated, autonomous individual who will be an integral part of a healthcare team dedicated to providing care for pediatric and adult patients.
*A minimum of 3 years of experience as a medical provider in an acute care setting is required.
Education and Training:
- Master’s degree in Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) studies required.
- Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program with appropriate board certification.
- Must hold active North Carolina licensure, and DEA registration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate competence in managing acute and chronic internal medicine diagnoses and conditions. Serve as the primary medical provider for an eating disorder and behavioral health facility.
- Work independently with a patient population ranging from late adolescence to adulthood. A supervising physician will be available via phone for consultation as needed.
- Conduct comprehensive history and physicals for new patients and consults, including:
- Detailed history of present illness (e.g., location, severity, timing, modifying factors, quality, duration, context, and associated signs/symptoms).
- Documentation of past medical/surgical history, review of systems (with pertinent positives and negatives), family/social history, medication list, allergies, and a comprehensive physical examination.
- Formulate accurate diagnoses and develop an evidence-based plan of care demonstrating sound medical decision-making.
- Coordinate and communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, psychiatrists, dietitians, case managers, and ancillary team members.

Work Shift and Volume:
- Schedule: PRN (occasional weekdays, weekends, Holiday coverage).
- Patient Load: Approximately 8-12 visits in the morning, with off-site on-call accountability
Compensation:
Very competitive pay.

Pay: $110.00 – $135.00 per hour
