Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hospice <PERSON> and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This vital role combines leadership, clinical expertise, and compassionate patient care to ensure our hospice residents receive the highest quality of end-of-life support. The ideal candidate will bring extensive nursing experience, especially within assisted living, nursing homes, or home health environments, and demonstrate a passion for guiding teams through complex care scenarios. As a key member of our management team, you will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and foster a caring atmosphere for residents and staff alike.
Duties
- Lead and supervise nursing staff to deliver exceptional hospice care aligned with residents’ individualized care plans.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of resident care plans, ensuring they meet medical and emotional needs.
- Manage shift schedules and coordinate staffing to maintain optimal coverage across all shifts.
- Review medical records, documentation, and electronic health records (EHR) systems to ensure accuracy, compliance with HIPAA regulations, and proper documentation review.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate services such as assisted living support, acute care interventions, and home health visits.
- Ensure adherence to Medicare guidelines and other regulatory standards while maintaining high-quality care delivery.
- Provide leadership in nurse management activities including supervising nursing assistants and managing performance evaluations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and relevant healthcare laws to support effective decision-making.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current state licensure; prior experience in hospice care strongly preferred.
- Proven management or supervising experience within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health agencies.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and documentation review processes.
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems for accurate record keeping.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical records confidentiality standards.
- Experience with MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments and care plan development for residents’ comprehensive needs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage shift operations effectively while fostering a positive team environment.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and educate staff on best practices in hospice and nursing administration.
