Full Job Description

About Us

Modern midwifery can be exhausting. The 15 minute appointment treadmill and high intervention hospital cultures are burning out incredible providers who just want to practice true, unhurried midwifery.

At Holy Family Services, we do things differently. For over 40 years, we have been a safe haven for out of hospital birth and maternal health equity in the Rio Grande Valley. We value physiologic birth, patient dignity, teamwork, and high quality maternal health care in a collaborative community based setting. We are currently growing our clinical team and preparing for official CABC accreditation, and we are looking for a warm, fiercely dedicated Certified Nurse Midwife to anchor our clinical floor.

The Role

We are looking for a true team player who loves both catching babies and providing holistic lifespan care.

As our Full Time Staff CNM, you are the heartbeat of our collaborative care team. You provide compassionate, evidence based, patient centered care to families throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum recovery. You will not do this alone. You will work alongside a deeply supportive clinical floor (including our Clinical Director, Licensed CPMs, and a dedicated Staff RN who handles your IVs and lab draws).

You will handle highly rewarding well woman care, share the primary birth call schedule equitably so you can actually rest, and serve as a collaborative clinical resource when risk factors arise on the floor.

What You Will Do

  • Provide Full Scope Care Facilitate unhurried prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. You will conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans while supporting physiologic birth.
  • Champion Teen Health Be a safe, welcoming resource for at risk youth in our community. You will speak directly to teens, providing vital education on birth control, pregnancy tests, and basic women health screenings.
  • Guard Safety and Quality Adhere to clinical protocols and promptly report safety concerns or deviations from protocol. You will recognize evolving risk factors and coordinate escalation, transfer, or emergency response when situations exceed protocol parameters.
  • Documentation Excellence Complete timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation. You will ensure your records support quality care, continuity, and reimbursement requirements.
  • Empower Patients Provide patient education, support shared decision making, and utilize culturally responsive, trauma informed communication.
  • Share the Load Take a dedicated primary birth call rotation, sharing the schedule equitably with our team to ensure sustainable, burnout free coverage.

What We Are Looking For

  • The Basics Current Texas licensure as a Certified Nurse Midwife in good standing, a current DEA registration, and active BLS and NRP certifications.
  • The Experience 1 to 3+ years of out of hospital birth experience is preferred. Experience serving Medicaid and diverse patient populations is highly valued.
  • The Vibe You combine sound clinical judgment with warmth and accountability. You maintain calm decision making under pressure and practice deep cultural humility.
  • Language Being bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred for serving our patient base.
  • Physical Requirements You must be able to perform the essential duties of this position with or without reasonable accommodations. This includes the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, remain clinically active for extended periods, and respond quickly in urgent clinical situations.

The Perks & Pay

  • Salary $85,000 to $95,000 base pay, offering profound purchasing power in the highly affordable Rio Grande Valley.
  • On Site Staff & Relocation Housing Relocating to the Valley? We provide on site transition housing to give you a comfortable, stress free place to land. We also use this housing for our on call shifts, so you never have to drive home exhausted after a 3 AM birth.
  • Loan Forgiveness We are an approved HRSA site. It means you can apply for substantial, tax free student loan repayment through the National Health Service Corps.
  • Coverage Your malpractice insurance is 100% fully covered by the clinic.
  • Time Off A generous PTO policy designed to encourage true rest.
  • Continuing Ed An annual stipend for your CEUs to keep your APRN active.
