Full Job Description
New and dynamic Urgent Care in Santa Clara, California. We are looking for a Full Time NP or Physician Assistant with at least 1 year Urgent Care, or Emergency Room experience. Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant must be able to suture, and be able to treat patients 3 month and older, through adult. Physician Assistant must be familiar with urgent care tests, and treatments.
Clinical Knowledge
1. Performs history and physical exams of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem.
2. Orders appropriate diagnostic tests, and X-rays.
3. Appropriately sends patients to the Emergency Room when needed.
4. Orders outpatient testing as necessary.
5. Understands general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects.
6. Appropriately discusses patient conditions, educates patients, and families.
7. Demonstrates ability to suture on their own.
8. Maintains accurate, and complete medical records.
Essential Functions and Patient Care
1. Provides care that is patient centered, in a compassionate manner.
2. Provides clear communication among all members of the healthcare team.
3. Is able to incorporate patient and family in treatment plan, and able to answer questions.
4. Flexible working day, evening, weekends, and holidays.
5. Census Expectation – up to 4 patients/per hour (more or less depending on the volume).
6. Experience with patients of all ages – 6 months to geriatrics.
Communication and Interdisciplinary Collaboration
1. Communicates and collaborates effectively with supervising physician, team members, or other health professionals, as needed.
2. Works effectively, and promotes mutual respect and trust, with team members.
Education, Training and Experience
Required:
- Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited program
- 1 year Urgent Care, or Emergency Room experience as a Physician’s Assistant
- Current applicable state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant
- Valid DEA licence
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Skills or Other Qualifications
Required:
Medical knowledge appropriate for an Urgent Care, or Emergency Room setting. Must be able to suture.
