Job Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding academic clinician to join the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Department of Pediatrics. This faculty position offers a unique opportunity for a clinician-investigator to advance the Division and Department’s strategic mission in research innovation. Candidates with strong interests in health services research, clinical outcomes, implementation science, or other research-intensive academic pursuits are especially encouraged to apply.

The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) is comprised of an exceptional group of academic faculty and staff recognized locally and nationally for leadership in medical education, quality improvement, advocacy, informatics, clinical operations, and health systems research. Division faculty serve in numerous leadership roles across the Department of Pediatrics and Children’s of Alabama, including leadership of the Pediatrics Clerkship and Residency Programs, medical directorships of inpatient services, and institutional committee leadership. The division maintains a highly collaborative academic environment with strong mentorship, infrastructure support, and opportunities for interdisciplinary and translational collaboration across UAB’s nationally recognized research enterprise. This position includes opportunities for both clinical and scholarly advancement within a dynamic academic medical center. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical care and teaching, along with a strong commitment to academic growth and professional development. Applicants with an established or emerging research portfolio, a record of scholarly productivity, and interest in developing innovative programs are highly desirable. Protected academic time and opportunities for collaboration with investigators across UAB may be available based on experience, interests, and career trajectory. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams is strongly preferred.

Qualified candidates must possess a doctoral degree (MD, DO, and/or MD/PhD), be licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Alabama, and be board certified or board eligible in General Pediatrics. Academic rank, tenure status, and compensation will be commensurate with experience, scholarly accomplishments, and academic productivity.
