Position Summary
Concordia University is seeking part-time clinical adjunct faculty in Ann Arbor, MI for pre-licensure courses in the DE-MSN program. The successful candidate will be a registered professional nurse with expertise and experience in OB/Ped’s, Med-surg, or Community Health, who is responsible for supervising students in the clinical area. This contract is renewed on a semester-by-semester basis.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty are expected to comply with all rules and regulations as outlined in the Concordia Adjunct Faculty Handbook. In addition, each faculty member has the following responsibilities:
Academic
- Attend all clinical coordination meetings as scheduled
- Develop or revise course syllabi, lesson plans and necessary handouts for assigned course, reflecting course objectives and program outcomes
- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding materials for potential use in the clinical course
- Use the Nursing Program grading policy when establishing grades
- Keep records of student performance and grades updated in the Canvas Learning Management System
- Other duties as assigned
Clinical
- Orient students to clinical setting
- Plan student assignments in the clinical setting
- Select and evaluate the method of student preparation for clinical assignments
- Evaluate students’ written work and clinical performance using established rubrics
- Provide frequent and timely verbal and written feedback to students, including conducting mid-rotation and end-of-rotation conferences
- Work collaboratively with staff at assigned clinical facility
- Communicate regularly with the course coordinator about student progress
Professional Activity
- Update curriculum vitae annually
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Exhibits a willingness and ability to work with diverse individuals and organizations
- Familiar with the university campus life
- Able to present a Christian and professional manner
- Candidates should possess strong written and oral communications skills
- Membership with a Christian church
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education & Experience
- Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Michigan
- Earned Master of Science in Nursing degree
- Minimum two years of experience as a staff nurse
- Current knowledge of clinical practice within the area of teaching responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
