Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Locum Physician Assistant – Emergency Medicine for our client in North Carolina!
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site clinical coverage within both inpatient and outpatient settings, including an open ICU.
- Manage an average of 20-25 patients per shift as part of a collaborative team.
- Handle split coverage during 12-hour shifts alongside two physicians and two mid-levels.
- Contribute to the management of a high-volume facility with an annual patient count of 32,000.
- Utilize Meditech 6.1 EMR for all clinical documentation and patient tracking.
Qualifications
- Physician Assistant certification (NCCPA-certified).
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible status.
- Active North Carolina state medical license.
- Current enrollment in PECOS and active credentialing with North Carolina Medicaid.
- Experience in emergency medicine or acute care settings.
Schedule
- Coverage dates: 7/1/2026 – 7/7/2026.
- Shift structure: 12-hour clinical shifts (specifically 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM for PA coverage).
- Nature: Clinical hours only with no additional call requirements.
- Credentialing timeframe: 60 to 90 days.
Skills
- Proficiency in emergency medicine and open ICU patient management.
- Technical expertise in the Meditech 6.1 EMR system.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment (90-100 total daily patients).
- Strong communication and team-based clinical skills for split-coverage models.
- Adaptability to clinical workflows in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
All travel expenses are reimbursed by our client and Orchard covers malpractice insurance with tail coverage!
