Full Job Description
- 14 shifts per month (12 hour shifts), including holidays, nights and weekends.
- Multidisciplinary inpatient rounding, pre and post-operative care, and hospital discharges.
- Assist in the operating room as needed—for kidney, pancreas, liver transplant, laparoscopic/robotic hernia repairs, liver resections, peritoneal dialysis catheter insertions/removals, nephrectomies—current estimated need is 1-3 days a month
- Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physicians to provide optimal patient management
- Maintains all required documentation for patient care
- Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
- Cover consultations from the emergency department or other hospital services.
- Respond to outpatient messages and telephone calls.
- Participate in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
- Assist in the collection for research projects.
- Participate in special projects and committee functions including Division meetings and education conferences.
- Participates in and presents Morbidity and Mortality presentations.
- Participates in kidney and liver transplant selection committees
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
