Description

The Physician Assistant (PA) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides advanced clinical care and expertise in the outpatient settings, supporting a full spectrum of women’s health services including general gynecology, urogynecology, menopause management, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS), and obstetrics. The PA practices in a collaborative and interdependent role, performing comprehensive medical assessments, diagnosing and managing gynecologic and obstetric conditions, and assisting in a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Key responsibilities include obtaining detailed medical histories, performing physical and pelvic examinations, formulating and communicating treatment plans, interpreting laboratory and imaging results, and contributing to the comprehensive care of patients under established protocols and within the PA scope of practice. The PA functions both autonomously and in consultation with attending physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care.

The PA serves as a clinical expert, patient advocate, and collaborative partner in the care team. Within an academic medical center, the PA is also expected to contribute to the education of learners, including medical students, residents, and advanced practice trainees. Additional responsibilities include participation in clinical and interdisciplinary rounds, providing patient and family education, coordinating care across specialties, and ensuring thorough documentation of services provided. The PA in OBGYN demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in women’s health, equity in care delivery, and lifelong learning in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. Salary range: $79.49-$106.96/hourly

Qualifications

  • CA PA License-required
  • National PA Board Certification-required
  • Degree from a PA program ( Master’s Degree preferred)-required
  • BLS Certification from AHA or ARC
  • Previous relevant OBGYN experience as PA -required
  • State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II, NPI#, DEA#, Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES- required
  • Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner – required
  • Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed, and grammatically correct correspondence – required
  • Ability to utilize Excel, word, and other software programs – required
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical, and academic personnel -required
  • Skill in working independently and following through with minimum directions – required
  • Ability to set priorities – required
