Regional One Health is currently seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) for the Emergency Department. 12-hour Day / Night shifts.
Participates as a member of the health care team to meet patient needs and provide continuity of care. Under the administrative and technical supervision of a physician, performs medical services in the care and treatment of patients by obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, applying diagnostic techniques, ordering tests/procedures and evaluating to assess medical condition, developing treatment plans and performing selected therapeutic tasks, or other special procedures.What you will do
- Examines patient, takes medical history, record results and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures. Administers or orders lab and diagnostic tests such as X-rays, electrocardiograms and blood work, and interprets tests results as appropriate. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served within department. * Assists with surgical procedures. * Performs first assist duties. * Conducts daily hospital rounds. * Writes orders and progress notes. * Performs all admission history and physicals. * Orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. * Performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies. * Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions. * Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients. * Handles discharge planning and dictates discharge summaries.
- Develops and implements patient care and treatment plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress according to medical regime utilizing established protocols.
- Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
- Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers as needed to develop an effective treatment plan. Provides direction to other personnel and reviews medical records to verify that patient’s care plan and medical needs are being met.
- Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations. Provides referrals for hospitalization, tests, therapies or specialty consultations; makes hospital rounds if indicated.
- Advises and counsels patients and/or others concerning physical and developmental well-being and defines the needs and problems. Identifies community health resources and guides patients and/or significant others in their use.
- Provides for continuity of effective patient and family care by exchanging information and cooperating with other community health/social service agencies, hospitals and health care providers.
- Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
- Updates medical records and patients’ charts.
- Performs first assist duties, including ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are present. Keeps surgical skills up to date.
Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Required
Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates Required

Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner TN State Licensure Required. Certification or registry eligible required.

NPs require RN TN State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure and a least 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.

ACE – Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist Eligible for Certificate of Fitness (Prescriptive privileges) in State of Tennessee Required

AHA BLS and ACLS Required upon hire.
