UT Regional One Physicians is currently seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for our Certified Burn Center in Memphis, TN. Day or night shift position available working 12-hour shifts.
JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participates as a member of the health care team to meet patient needs and provide continuity of care. Under the administrative and technical supervision of a physician, performs medical services in the care and treatment of patients by obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, applying diagnostic techniques, ordering tests/procedures and evaluating to assess medical condition, developing treatment plans and performing selected therapeutic tasks, or other special procedures.
Roles include First Assist in the OR for PA and NPs with First Assist certification. The NP or PA-C will also provide pre-op / post-op care for Burn and Wound Care patients.
The areas that will be included in this role include:
- Burn ICU/Stepdown
- Burn ED
- Burn ORs
- ROH Burn Rehab/LTACH
EDUCATION: Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program. Additional training may be required for specialty areas. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the neonate, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years clinical experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred. Will accept new grads. Demonstrated ability to work independently and make clinical assessments.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Certification as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in State of TN. Additional certification in specialty areas may be required. Eligible for Prescriptive privileges) in State of Tennessee required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Lifting and moving patients and equipment; extensive patient handling and repositioning; prolonged standing and walking; repetitive bending, reaching, and awkward postures during wound care and dressing changes; exposure to infectious agents including multidrug resistant organisms; ability to work in elevated ambient temperatures for extended periods, particularly in operating rooms; frequent donning and doffing of PPE including gowns, gloves, masks, and head covers; manual dexterity for complex wound care and surgical assistance; prolonged use of barrier precautions; extended work hours requiring sustained concentration and decision making.
