Compensation Range:

$98,010.00 – $137,218.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

NP or PA

Exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated APP to join the department of Neurosurgery. The successful candidate will work with the APP Manager to see patients in our clinical office to decrease wait time for new general Neurosurgery referrals.

Responsibilities:

After completing significant training, manage an outpatient clinic in collaboration with the attending neurosurgeons.

Work independently and collaboratively with various members of the neurosurgery provider teams in an outpatient office environment.

Obtain comprehensive history and physicals.

Document patient care in the electronic medical record.

Interpret and order diagnostic imaging to facilitate the work up of the patients’ presenting complaint.

Educate patients and families about neurosurgical disease and treatment plans.

Coordinate with attending Neurosurgeon’s offices regarding follow up and testing ordered.

Evaluate and manage established neurosurgery patients in follow up visits.

Manage post operative patients in the outpatient setting.

Triage and respond to urgent calls and clinical concerns.

Serve as first point of contact for new neurosurgery referrals.

Reduce new patient wait times by managing an independent APP clinic.

Facilitate timely access for patients requiring urgent neurosurgical evaluations.

Coordinate with referring providers to ensure appropriate workup prior to visit.

Coordinate imaging, labs and specialist consultations prior to or during initial appointments.

Communicate with insurance and prior authorization teams for procedure and imaging approvals when necessary.

Respond to patient messages through the patient portal in a timely manner.

Communicate effectively with patients, families and care team members.

Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Assist in development and review of clinical protocols and pathways.

Collaborate with departmental leadership on access improvement strategies.

Participate in continuing medical education activities.

Adhere to all regulatory, compliance and credentialing requirements.

Work collaboratively with attending Neurosurgeons, Fellows and Residents.

Participate in multidisciplinary conferences when applicable.

Support department research and data collection initiatives.

Qualifications:

NP or PA

Current NYS licensure and DEA registration

Neurology or Neurosurgery experience preferred

Electronic medical record proficiency ( EPIC preferred)

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master’s degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
