Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Orthopedic Spine Physician Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital signs, and medical history reviews specific to spine conditions.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging reports, diagnostic tests, and clinical data collection to determine appropriate treatment strategies.
- Administer injections such as Botulinum toxin treatments for spasticity or pain management under physician supervision.
- Manage acute pain cases through effective triage, medication administration, and coordination of care plans aligned with hospital standards.
- Support surgical procedures by preparing patients, assisting in the operating room (OR), and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained throughout interventions.
- Document patient encounters accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Cerner, including CPT coding and ICD-10 coding for billing purposes.
- Educate patients on their conditions, post-operative care, and rehabilitation protocols while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and data management.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and medical terminology related to spine health.
- Experience with hospital environments including Level I or Level II trauma centers; ICU or emergency room experience is highly desirable.
- Skilled in performing physical examinations, suturing, injection administration, and aseptic techniques within surgical or outpatient settings.
- Familiarity with critical care procedures such as ventilator management, airway management, and inpatient acute care protocols.
- Ability to coordinate clinical research activities including data collection for clinical trials related to spine treatments or pain management.
- Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding practices for accurate billing; experience with medical coding is preferred.
- Experience in telehealth services to provide remote consultations and follow-up care for patients with spine conditions or post-surgical needs.
- Competence in managing complex cases involving infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine considerations, or occupational health issues related to musculoskeletal injuries. Pay: $110,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
