Orthopedic Physician Assistant (Per Case / Flexible Part-Time)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Orthopedic Physician Assistant to support a growing orthopedic practice on a flexible, per-case basis. This opportunity is ideal for a PA looking to work with a lower-volume practice while maintaining autonomy, flexibility, and direct collaboration with the surgeon. Compensation is based on cases and services provided rather than a fixed salary.
This role offers the chance to participate in patient care across clinic, procedural, and surgical settings depending on experience and availability.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions through history, physical examination, and treatment planning.
- Assist with office visits, follow-up appointments, post-operative care, and patient education.
- Provide support in the operating room, including surgical assisting, preparation, and post-procedure management as needed.
- Perform in-office procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, splinting, casting, wound care, and suture removal based on qualifications.
- Review imaging studies, lab results, and treatment progress in coordination with the surgeon.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
- Coordinate referrals, therapy plans, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment.
- Help optimize patient flow and support efficient day-to-day practice operations.
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant license in good standing.
- Orthopedic, sports medicine, surgical, or related musculoskeletal experience preferred.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with supervising physician.
- Experience with EMR systems and strong documentation skills.
- Excellent bedside manner, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Surgical assisting experience is a plus but not required depending on role focus.
