HSHS Medical Group is recruiting a BC/BE Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our General Surgery team in Springfield, IL based at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. This APP will work alongside a team of four surgeons and will go with them to the OR as their primary first assist. This APP will also assist with outpatient follow-up appointments and inpatient rounds when they are not in the OR.

Position Details:

– Monday – Friday weekly schedule with an option of a 4 day work week

  • Weekly schedule will be a mix of OR time, clinic time, and inpatient coverage
  • The clinic is on the hospital campus and is attached to the main hospital to easily access the OR and the inpatient floors from the outpatient clinic and provider office.
  • After hours clinic call required, which consists of phone call only with no obligation to come onsite after hours if a call is received.
  • EPIC EMR in both the inpatient and outpatient setting

Position Requirements:

  • Unrestricted Illinois license prior to start
  • Board Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant
  • Please note, any APRN considered for the position must have a First Assist Certification.
  • Experience in general surgery or another surgical field is preferred, but experience in other specialties will be considered.

Compensation & Benefits Package:

  • Base guarantee along with call pay
  • Paid time off with holidays accrued bi-weekly

Pay Range: $57/hour – $81.50/hour. A successful candidate’s actual pay rate will be based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, training, certifications and education.

Education Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing PLUS 5 years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Doctoral degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience Qualifications

  • Experience in management of patients across the care continuum preferred.

Certifications, Licenses and Registrations

  • Licensed in the state of practice as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is required.
  • Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (WDSPS) or
  • Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Board certification from the National Certification Corporation is preferred.
  • Controlled Substance license in state of practice is preferred.
  • Federal DEA license is preferred.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is preferred.
