Medical Assistant
(Certification preferred but not required)
Responsibilities:
1. Direct patients to the triage room and preform preliminary physical test; blood pressure, weight, temperature, recording medical history and confirming purpose of the visit.
2. Review and update medications with patient.
3. Perform laboratory and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered such as hemoglobin, A1C, glucose, urinalysis, breathing treatments, injections, and EKG’s.
4. Keep patient exam rooms and triage station stocked with supplies and organized.
5. Review the providers schedule throughout the day and prior to the start of shift to ensure patient flow.
6. Maintain security of medical records and patient’s health information according to HIPPA standards.
7. Assist with other duties assigned by the Practice Administrator or that may be needed by other team members of the office.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
2. Light to moderate lifting (up to thirty pounds) is required.
3. Ability to uphold the stress of assisting patients of diverse backgrounds.
4. Regular, predictable attendance is required.
5. Employee must have the ability to perform the indicated duties and responsibilities.
6. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
7. Maintain a friendly and compassionate disposition.
8. Always demonstrate professionalism by appearance and actions.
9. Display strong interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively interact with physicians, team members, and patients.
10. Dedication to maintain confidentiality of all patient records.
11. Ability to work independently and efficiently and as part of a team.
