Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) to join our pain management team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, perform in-clinic procedures as appropriate, and support continuity of care in collaboration with our pain management specialists.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed patient histories, physical exams, and follow-up evaluations
- Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans for chronic and acute pain conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Assist with in-office procedures
- Educate patients on pain management strategies, medications, and lifestyle modifications
- Manage controlled substances in adherence with all applicable regulations and best practices
- Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, physical therapists, behavioral health providers, and other specialists
- Document all patient encounters clearly and accurately in the EMR
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing training
Requirements
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification to practice in the state of employment
- Experience in pain management or primary care preferred (but not required)
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Hands-on experience administering injections and performing physical examinations in various clinical environments
- Excellent patient assessment skills coupled with compassionate communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining HIPAA compliance
