Job Title: Nocturnist (Night Shift Hospitalist)

Position Summary:

The Nocturnist is an APC (Physician Assistant) who works the overnight shift in a hospital setting, providing medical care to inpatients during the nighttime hours. The Nocturnist will be responsible for managing patient care during the night, responding to emergencies, performing admissions, handling consults, and ensuring continuity of care. This position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to work independently, and effective communication with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient care during the overnight shift, including patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Admit and discharge patients as necessary, managing cases of varying acuity.
  • Handle emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Respond to patient concerns and provide timely documentation of care in medical records.
  • Collaborate with day shift physicians, specialists, and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Supervise and support other clinical staff as needed, ensuring high-quality care
  • standards.
  • Participate in hospital-wide initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Be available to consult on medical issues that may arise during the night shift.
  • Stay up to date on the latest medical guidelines, protocols, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Physician Assistant.
  • Valid state license.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience in inpatient hospital medicine.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks during overnight shifts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in managing acute and critical care patients preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in an inpatient setting.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
  • Familiarity with hospital electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Work Schedule:

  • Per diem availability.
  • Shifts typically from 6 PM to 6 AM or as required by the medical group.
  • Approximately 8 to 10 shifts per month.

  • Competitive salary based on experience.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $1,000.00 per day
