Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Trauma/Neurosurgery/Surgical Services

Location: Rochester, MI

Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% outpatient.

Case Load: 100% Adult

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support Trauma and Surgical Services at our Level 3 trauma hospital, located within a vibrant and supportive community. This role involves providing critical care to trauma patients and assisting in surgical procedures, both preoperatively and postoperatively. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience, with ATLS certification preferred. The position requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Our team is supportive, and this role offers opportunities for growth while delivering high-quality care to trauma patients. NO new graduates will be reviewed.

Schedule – 6a-6p, and one 8-hour shift, 80-hour work week total.

Weekend requirement – One weekend every 4-weeks.

Call requirement – No.

OR Time – No.

Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.| Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.| Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.

Qualifications:

  • NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
  • PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan
  • PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
  • National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
  • ATLS certification, preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as APP.
  • Experienced APP with experience in Trauma/Surgical Services/Neurosurgery, preferred.
