Advanced Practice Provider- Trauma at St. Anthony’s in Lakewood

Position Overview The position is responsible for providing care within the clinical, surgical and hospital setting for St. Anthony’s Hospital in Lakewood, CO on behalf of Panorama Orthopedics and Spine Center’s Trauma Team. St. Anthony’s is a Level 1 trauma center that services the West side of the Denver Metro area just outside the foothills of Colorado. The trauma team is made up of 5 primary Orthopedic trauma surgeons and 6 Advanced Practice Providers, this position would make 7 APPs.

Essential Functions

  • Primary duties would involve covering first call at the Level 1 trauma center evaluating all Orthopedic Trauma patients referred to Panorama through the Emergency Department and any inpatient providers.
  • Conducts independent inpatient consultations and H&Ps, evaluating and ordering imaging studies for new patients, assisting with developing and coordinating treatment plans and discharge summaries.
  • Admits and consults on patients on behalf of the call attending physician at St. Anthony’s Hospital.
  • Performing fracture/dislocation reductions on all major extremities, skeletal traction pin placement, joint injections and aspirations and use of fluoroscopy.
  • Rotates in providing daily rounds, evaluating changes in patient conditions, issues orders for medications, treatments, and lab tests.
  • Provides surgical first assistant coverage in the operating room for multiple surgeons.
  • Ability to apply splints, braces, wound vacs, and casts.
  • Documents all patient care actions in the EMR timely and accurately.
  • Must work well in a team environment and must possess strong attention to detail in high stress environment.
  • Must be willing to adopt high level standards of care set forth by the Orthopedic Trauma team regardless of previous experiences and preferences.

Pay & Benefits Information The pay range for this position is $100k to $150k/annually, DOE.

This position is eligible for benefits, including Health, Dental and Vision Insurance Life Insurance Long-term Disability Participation in other voluntary benefits programs.

Must have a flexible schedule for 13 to 24-hour shifts.

Education, Licensure and/or Experience Required·

Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program (MUST have RN First Assist Certification) ·

Active license in the State of Colorado to practice medicine required·

Active DEA license to prescribe

2 years of previous experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required· Strong clinical skills, ability to think and react quickly.· Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to synthesize data to determine medical treatment plans.· Ability to assess patient’s conditions in stressful environments, assist in life saving procedures and develop treatment plans.· Effective communication skills to communicate with patients, teammates and other hospital providers and staff members to gather pertinent information regarding conditions and treatment and to create well organized, succinct, and clear information to supervising Physicians.
